Parthasarathy Temple (Perumal Temple) is one of the 8th century Hindu Vaishnava temples. One of the 108 Divya Nations of Vaishnavas, this temple is full of temple towers, halls and fine sculptures. The name 'Parthasarathy', in Tamil, means the 'Charioteer of Arjuna', referring to Krishna's role as a charioteer in the epic Mahabaratha.
The temple was first built in the 8th century by the Pallava king Raja I of Narasimhavarman. There are five incarnations of Tirumal in this temple. Avaiyavana Narasimha, Rama, Varadarajar, Ranganatha and Krishna. The temple has Vedavalli Ammayar, Ranganathar, Rama, Gajendra Varadaraja Swamy, Narasimha, Andal, Anjaneyar, Siva and Ramanujar shrines. The temple follows the Vaighanasaga and the south. There are separate shrines for Narasimha and Krishna.
