Vadapalani Murugan Temple is a famous Murugan Temple located in Vadapalani, Chennai. The temple was renovated in 1920 and the royal tower was built. The temple was built in the year 1890 with a simple thatched shed.
The temple has many shrines dedicated to various deities. Separate shrines for Varasithi Ganesha, Sokhanathar Siva, Meenakshi Amman, Kali, Bhairavar, Valli and Devasena Samadeva Shanmugar.
The moolavar in standing posture resembles Palani Murugan. One of the Navagrahas has a separate shrine called Mars. It has a separate temple for the Gods of Dakshinamurthy, Chandikeswara and Mahalakshmi.
Evening - 04.00 P.M. to Night - 09.00 P.M.
On the days of Maha Kandha Sashti, Krithikai month, Vaigasi Visakam, Thaipoosam, Panguni Uthram, first day of Sithirai, English New year etc., the Nadai shall remain open at all times. On Tuesdays the Nadai opens at 3PM in the evenings.
